Default Ranger/Warrior - Still Worthwhile?

Last BWE I spent a lot of time on making a suprisingly good Ranger/Warrior.
Details in the link below:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ead.php?t=1190

This BWE the game developers beat the @#$! out of my character by making Flourish a Strength based skill. I have spent much of this BWE struggling to find a Ranger/Warrior that can manage as well as an IW Mesmer/Warrior. I still havent found a combination that works well enough.

What Im wondering is: Have any of you found a working combination for a Ranger/Warrior?

Ranger/Warrior melee fighter
I got this from the raanger sticky thread, i cant get acess to beta so i cant try anything out to let you know.

I liked your ranger warior thread except i wanted to also add beastmastery and maybe reduce tactics and expertise a litlle.

Expertise: 11+1+hat
Beastmastery: 3+1
Swordsmanship: 11
Tactics: 8

Skills:
Pure Strike
Savage Slash
Hamstring
Final Thrust
Hundred Blades {E}
Throw Dirt
Tiger's Fury
Bonetti's Defense

i think well have to wait until after beta weekend or even release to find out what the final version of the game will look like.

Because Strength is primary Warrior only. He wants Ranger/Warrior, not Warrior/Ranger :P

I actually used that build of yours yesturday and it seemed to work just fine. I didn't play it too much, just a couple of Arena battles, but I didn't notice any energy problems. Maybe you could use Bonetti's Defense instead of throw dirt and use it when you get low on energy? That may not be what you want to hear, but it's the only suggestion I got. Keep in mind that the stance ends if you use an attack. Sorry I couldn't be more of a help, but I thought I'd give you some feedback considering I tried out your build.

Well my current build is suprisingly similar to Saladins.

Expertise: 9+1 (5 energy skills cost 3)
Beastmastery: 3 (spare points, add 1 second to tigers fury)
Swordsmanship: 12
Tactics: 9

Skills:
Hundred Blades {E}
Pure Strike
Savage Slash
Final Thrust
Hamstring
Serpents Quickness (Survival skill, but 15 seconds is worth 3 energy to me)
Tiger's Fury
Throw Dirt

The only difference is instead of a defensive stance I have serpents. This character allows for extreamly heavey Burst damage at the begining of a fight:

Serpent (faster recharge on skills)
Tiger (33% attack increase)
Combo skills
Hamstring when they run

If you find your self in need of defence, use throw dirt, its just as good as a defensive stance if not better because it causes spells to miss to...I do belive it even causes some heals to miss, so it may add to monk killing as well.

I used two varations on your build this very last BWE:

Expertise: 9+1 (mask)
Beastmastery: 3 + 1 (rune)
Swordsmanship: 12
Tactics: 9

Pure Strike
Seeking Blade
Sever Artery
Tiger's Fury
Whirling Defense
Gladiator's Defense {E}
Healing Signet
Sprint

And the other version, which is not as powerful on the defense, but more powerful on the offense:

Expertise: 9+1 (mask)
Beastmastery: 3 + 1 (rune)
Axe Mastery: 12
Tactics: 9

Swift Chop
Eviscerate {E}
Executioner's Strike
Tiger's Fury
Whirling Defense
Throw Dirt
Healing Signet
Sprint

Both worked very well, though I found that Gladiator's Defense just wrecks multiple warriors attacking you, and you can just heal during it .

The second build though was a pure burst damage monster. Spamming Swift Chop and normal attack with Tiger's Fury on really build up adrenaline fast for the massive damage axe attacks.

I've experimented with using "For Great Justice!" instead of Whirling Defense, which get my my adrenaline even faster, but when I get jumped on by multiple warriors, I miss the 16 second immunity+heal of WD, so switched it back out.

lol?

Str owns Tactics every day of the week PvP. It was not said where this build was used but if you need any of the 80% of tactics you need help as war's are not being targeted. Exceptions are made like echo+fear me build Fi ran(brutal)

Zealous weapon for 1 energy per hit, and Expertise to reduce your attack skill costs, and you shouldn't have problems with energy.

That's actually quite a good idea, and this may be one of the few times I'd suggest taking a weapon like that into battle. Good idea, Nash. Dunno why none of us thought of it earlier.

Well, unfortunately for me, the auto-login won't let me log out of Volume_II and sign in as Bad_Monkey6186, so that's bugging me.

I AM BAD_MONKEY6186

ok, now that thats straight, I played with you in arena and you and I managed to pull off more damage than primary warriors, partly because we owned, but the extra energy really helped to. Anyway, here's the build I was running.

Swordsmanship:12
Tactics: 9
Beast Mastery: 9 (I think)

Balanced Stance
Desperation Blow
Bonettis Defense
Final Thrust
Pure Strike
Ferocious Strike [E]
Comfort Animal
Charm Animal

Now, that worked pretty well against anyone, because I could really dish out the pain, and bonettis and ferocious strike helped with adren and energy.

Given another chance, I'd probably switch it around to something like this.

Swordsmanship:12
Tactics: 9
Expertise: 9

Balanced Stance
Desperation Blow
Final Thrust
Pure Strike
Gladiator's Defense [E]
Whirling Defense
Savage Slash
Deadly Riposte

the reason for that, of course, is that my build did hefty damage, but I died pretty fast if I got bashed on in return because I had no real defensive spells.

EDIT: sorry didnt realease you werent using expertise

Monkey, in 8v8 I find we are usally one of the lower targets on the list to be attacked, and I think you should look into Throw Dirt, it realy helps when melee builds are puting preasure on your monk.

yea, the second build above is designed for arena matches or pve, maybe.

If I was doing 8v8, I'd probably go with something like this

Expertise: 9
Tactics: 9
Swordsmanshp: 12

Balanced Stance
Desperation Blow
Pure Strike
Final Thrust
Savage Slash
Thrill of Victory
Throw Dirt
Gladiator's Defense or Charge, or something else
